Hi Folks, A reader sent me a mushroom for identification. I am flummoxed and could use your help. Can anyone identify this mushroom? Let me know at hot.bog.goss@gmail.com or leave a comment. The Baxter Bog Birder

Mushrooms continue to delight on the bog

Hi Folks, I'm receiving reports of a greater variety of mushrooms sprouting up on the bog. Someone sent a picture of coprinus micaceus, which they are quoted as writing it reminds them of a mushroom village. In another report, due to the high water level one can really see the engineering behind the bog's water flow. Water is visibly flowing from the bog through culverts draining North and Northeast within the bog water overflow ditches. Baxter Bog Birder

Mushrooms on the bog

Hi Folks, I have received reports of mushrooms sprouting along the bog. Apparently the most noticeable  are the Aminita Muscaria, which are the mushrooms with the beautiful orange to red fruiting body. For more information on mushrooms in the bog you can peruse the delightfully informative board made by the fifth grade Anchorage Waldorf School by the bridge on the North side of the bog. If you have any updates do not hesitate to let me know at hot.bog.goss@gmail.com. The Baxter Bog Birder
